What will they think of next? Furby, tickle-me elmo... All big hits for the Christmas holiday for consumers to buy. Whats next? Technologies are becoming more and more advanced. They are also becoming cheaper and cheaper. Apple is seemingly beginning to take over the market by marketing common products that most have such as ipods. Almost everyone has an ipod but does everyone have a green or blue one. Surprisingly, people are now beginning to buy them more than once for means of fashion. People will own multiple ipods for the means to be more fashionable. This is the type of markets that companies such as apple are attacking.
These companies create the need that you need to fill with their technologies and they aim to do it at Christmas time when everyone is willing to splurge a little bit more. With people more and more willing to splurge at this time, this is the ideal time for a new technology to attempt to break into the market. Extremely high priced gaming systems are coming out around this time because this is when people are willing to buy them. Everyone is willing to spend a little bit more in the merry season. Moreover, everyone is willing to spend a little bit more on some technologies that others such as children or spouses want.
What will be next though? Twenty years from now will we be shopping for spaceships come Christmas. Sounds foolish, but who knows? I would never imagine that we would be shopping for 3-D gaming systems and television about 5 years ago. Technology is advancing exponentially, and it is almost a task to try to keep up with it. I don't know what is yet to come but I am looking forward to finding out. We are on the brink of the technology age, and it is exciting to be here.
Spaceships would be a neat thing to buy in 20 years, however I know for a fact that I won't be buying one. I am never one of the leading edge people or an innovator. I would much rather wait the extra 6 months and let the enthusiasm die down about the new latest and greatest must have for the season. Not only do i save so much money but it also lets the manufacturers work out the bugs in the technologies. Like you, though, I am very interested in seeing what they come out with next.
